For the remainder of the month of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and through the end of the year, Eastside Medical Center in Snellville is offering digital mammograms at a special rate.
The hospital’s Breast and Diagnostic Center is offering digital mammograms for $99. The special rate will also be offered at the hospital’s Loganville Imaging Center.
“This special rate meets the need for affordable mammography screenings in our community, which is an important factor in overall women’s health,” Sharon Mitchell, manager of the Breast and Diagnostic Center at Eastside and the Digital Imaging Center in Loganville, said in a news release. “We are excited to offer this opportunity to the women of our community.”
A separate physician reading fee will apply, and extended hours are available for patients’ convenience.
The Breast and Diagnostic Center is also hosting a lunch and learn from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 31. Beth Kruse, M.D., a board certified diagnostic radiologist and director of breast imaging will discuss mammograms and breast MRI. The event will also feature speaker Julie Mills, founder and owner of Body Health and Life Clinic in Snellville.
According to the hospital, women should have a baseline mammogram between the ages of 35 and 40 and screening mammograms every other year from age 40 to 50. After age 50, screening mammograms are recommended annually.
