Winder-Barrow Chandon Sullivan

Loganville Red Devils (8-AAAAA)

Coach: Eric Godfree

Record: 3-3, 2-2 region

Last week: Beat Apalachee 29-21

Winder-Barrow Bulldoggs (8-AAAAA)

Coach: David Wagner

Record: 1-5, 0-4 region

Last week: Lost to Flowery Branch 44-7

The Bulldoggs will be making a few changes heading into Friday’s game.

Their practice schedule this week was different due to Barrow County schools’ fall break, while head coach David Wagner is making others to try to find the right formula for his team to get back on the winning track.

“We’ve made some changes and moved some personnel around to try to get the best results,” Wagner said. “Honestly, whoever wins the time of possession (Friday) wins the football game, barring mistakes. … When you look at what (Loganville does) and what we do, we’re both trying to sustain some drives (on offense). Even though we spread it out, we’re trying to do some old-school things.”

Friday, that will likely mean establishing the run, especially behind Chandon Sullivan, who has usually been able to make things happen when he’s gotten the ball.

But it will be up to the Bulldoggs’ line to try to grind things out with the Red Devils’ defense to give him room, and help control the clock to keep the ball away from Loganville playmakers Royce Harrison, Darryl Giles and Braxton Beck, who fueled a second-half comeback in last week’s win over Apalachee.

“They are a big and hard-nosed group,” Wagner said of the Red Devils. “And you talk about resilient. They really play 48 minutes.”

Last meeting: Loganville won 28-14 last year
