Last week: Had a bye
Apalachee Wildcats (8-AAAAA)
Coach: Shane Davis
Record: 0-5, 0-3 region
Last week: Lost to Flowery Branch 42-20
For the fourth time in five games this season, the Wildcats dug themselves an early hole last week at Flowery Branch and spent the rest of the evening trying to climb out.
“We only had the ball one or two times (in the first half), and it got out of hand in a hurry,” Apalachee coach Shane Davis said.
And Davis and his staff and players continue to seek a solution this week with Loganville coming to town.
It’s a solution that’s not much different from what they’ve been trying to do all season.
“It’s the same game plan,” Davis said. “We have to control the clock and keep the ball in our hands and keep (Loganville’s offense) off the field, and win the turnover battle. And we also have to tackle better in space.”
The former will be the responsibility of Apalachee’s ground-based offense as engineered by quarterback Chance Rodriguez.
The latter will also be important, with the visiting Red Devils featuring playmakers like athletic quarterback Royce Harrison and running back Braxton Beck.
Last meeting: Apalachee won 35-28 last year
