Defense stole the story a week ago for Dacula. While its offense moved the ball well against Brookwood, breakdowns in many of the series kept the Falcons from scoring and kept the game close until the defense came up with two late interceptions. Lawson Cook’s went for a score, but two-way player Jacque Evangelister’s sealed the win. But the sneaky stat for the Falcons was their 271 rushing yards on the backs of seven different runners. Head coach Tommy Jones graded out offensive lineman Brandon Ake with a 90 percent blocking grade after the game, a mostly internal stat, but an important one for a team whose quarterback runs as much as he throws.

Up next for the surprise Falcons is coach Cecil Flowe’s Panthers, a team still searching for a grip on its offense. Flowe said the team’s off week was spent mired in the puzzle of the offense which was shutout by Brookwood in its last outing.

“There is no doubt we are struggling offensively,” Flowe said. “We just have to find a way to push the ball ahead a little bit.”

Flowe said they are trying anything, different formations, different players in different places, anything for a spark.

“It’s not on any one person,” Flowe said. “It was my fault on the 10-yard line (against Brookwood). It’s as frustrating as it can be. We have talent, but I can’t go block the guy. If you miss the block, you miss the block and you miss a block in this league you get tackled. It ain’t pretty right not.”

Last meeting: Parkview won 26-21 last year.
