Grayson Rams (8-AAAAAA)

Last week: Beat Central Gwinnett 27-19
Jonathan Sanks remembers the results of a year ago.
His growing Patriots faced off with a stacked Grayson team to an all-around drubbing. But with a region win and a defense holding its own in 8-AAAAAA, Sanks and his Berkmar team are looking for better results.
“If we come and play, it should be our type of game, defensively,” Sanks said. “There aren’t going to be any secrets in this game.”
Grayson’s wing-T offense isn’t flashy, but it’s effective and improving. In its 27-19 win over Central last week, the Rams’ running back duo of Cameryn Brent (214 yards) and Aares McCall (108 yards) combined for more than 300 yards behind the blocking of Owen Painter and Chase King and the rest of the Rams’ offensive line. Like Sanks said, no secrets.
But the question surrounding Berkmar is how will it respond to a loss to South Gwinnett while it tries to maintain its early success with a new quarterback in sophomore Jadarrius Warner.
“He didn’t play bad,” Sanks said of his quarterback. “Everybody else around him played bad. We have to capitalize on every opportunity we get.”
And against Grayson, that’s always true. It may not be the highly praised defense of a year ago, but the Rams have steadily lowered the amount of points allowed as the season wears on.
“They are not the defense of last year, but they are real good,” Sanks said.
Last meeting: Grayson won 62-0 last year
