WINDER — The XTERRA Trail Run Series is sponsoring an event to run Oct. 12 at Fort Yargo State Park.
Races on two different course — one of 3.1 miles and another of 8.75 miles — will be run that day and is expected to draw around 300 runners.
Proceeds from the race will benefit the family of Geoff Sarazen, a Dacula golf professional and grandson of Hall of Fame golfer Gene Sarazen who passed away unexpectedly of a stroke at the age of 40 two months ago.
Sarazen, who was a friend and supporter of the XTERRA Trail Run Georgia Series, is survived by his wife Charlise and children Britt, Bryce and Mary Landis, all of whom will be honored before the race and participate in it.
