ATLANTA —Wesleyan trailed 5-0 in the third inning of the Region 6-AA championship game against Lovett before rallying for an 11-9 victory to claim the crown.
Riley Henning had a two-RBI hit in the sixth to tie the game. Emeily Farrow (sacrifice bunt) and Meredith DiStasi (reached on error) followed to give the Wolves the lead.
Landyn Duley was 3-for-4 with two runs, while Dacia Jones added three RBIs and Gabby Hernandez was 2-for-2 with an RBI and three runs.
Jones was the starting pitcher, but Henning got the win in relief for the Wolves (19-7).
Mountain View 7,
HOSCHTON — Courtney Cosino and Kristen Rogers had a pair of RBIs in the Mountain View’s 7-6 win over Norcross in the Region 7-AAAAAA tournament at Mill Creek.
Cosino and Rogers were 2-for-3, while Sammie Daugherty was 3-for-4 and Courtney Roley was 2-for-4. Shae Balzer was the winning pitcher.
Mountain View 13, Duluth 5
HOSCHTON — Shae Balzer was the starting pitcher, but Sierra Miller got the win in Mountain View’s 13-5 victory over Duluth in the Region 7-AAAAAA tournament.
Courtney Roley was 3-for-4 with an RBI, Balzer was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Kara Desandra was 2-for-4.
Grayson 4, Dacula 0
SNELLVILLE — Breanna Ethridge had five strikeouts in Grayson’s 4-0 victory over Dacula on Wednesday.
The Rams had seven hits as a team and were led by Sierra Smith, who was 2-for-3 with two runs.
Archer 3, Grayson 1
SNELLVILLE — Alesha Mann had a pair of RBIs to lead Archer past Grayson 3-1 in the Region 8-AAAAAA tournament at Brookwood.
Abby Lyall was 2-for-2 for the Tigers (21-8), while Kory Best was the winning pitcher. Best (13-4) allowed eight hits, one run and struckout two.
Grayson (18-3) was led by Stephanie Snyder, who was 3-for-3.
Parkview places third at area tourney
DACULA — Parkview dropped a pair of games at the area tournament on Wednesday to finish third in the area.
The Panthers (16-22) lost to Brookwood 10-25, 10-25 and Archer 25-22, 17-25, 20-25.
Rachel Rust had four aces, 10 kills and 19 digs, Bernice McGriff had seven kills, one block and four digs and Vickie Harris had eight kills, 1 block and four digs.
Buford girls win meet
BUFORD — Buford had five girls place in the top 15 to win the Buford Invitational on Wednesday.
The Wolves scored 22 points to beat White County. Lanier was fifth with 136 points.
Megan Ward led the Wolves with a runner-up finish and a time of 21 minutes, 43 seconds. Erin Marsh (21:44) was third, Bailey Roberts (21:52) was fourth, Hannah Davis (22:27) was sixth and Lane Crawford (23:14) was 13th.
BUFORD — Buford’s Josh Thompson placed second at the Buford Invitational on Wednesday with a time of 17 minutes, 8 seconds.
Buford’s Justin Pirkle (17:51) was fourth, Avery Webster (17:53) was fifth and Alex Sanchez (18:26) was 10th. Lanier’s Christopher Tromp (18:49) was 15th.
Centennial won the meet with 35 points, Buford was second in the team standings with 39 points. Lanier was sixth with 148.
