LAWRENCEVILLE — Preston Williams, CEO of the Gwinnett Center and Explore Gwinnett, was in fair condition Tuesday at Gwinnett Medical Center.

Williams is being treated for injuries sustained in a car accident Friday.

“He’s going to be fine,” his wife, Lynn Williams said.

The Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce sent an email to board members Monday saying Williams would likely be hospitalized for the next couple days and then will be recuperating at home for another several weeks.

“He has several fractured ribs and he had a collapsed lung,” Lisa Anders, executive director of Explore Gwinnett, said Tuesday.

The accident reportedly occurred along Interstate 20 near Conyers when another driver’s tire blew, causing her vehicle to strike Williams’ SUV, Anders said, adding Williams will likely be hospitalized through the end of the week.
