BUFORD — The Buford City Council on Monday considered an amendment to its sewer rate schedule for major users and multi-family dwellings and approved special-use permits for two automotive businesses.
Commission members discussed amending the city sewer rate schedule to $6.90 per one thousand gallons. It was noted that it will remain below $7.11 per one thousand gallons charged to county residents.
The commission also approved special-use permits for Shad Mitsubishi at 1850 Plunketts Road and The Fender Blender Inc. at 2705 Faith Industrial Blvd., Suite 700.
The Shad Mitsubishi permit for an automotive sales and service facility was approved under several conditions. It must adhere to the Mall of Georgia Overlay District Requirements and Buford zoning ordinances. An outdoor intercom system, metal buildings or accents, outdoor repair, parts storage and junk vehicles are prohibited. And exterior lighting will only illuminate dealership property.
The Fender Blender automotive repair shop will also make all repairs and maintenance inside the facility and outdoor storage of parts and junk vehicles is prohibited.
In other business, the council approved a traffic plan at the Buford Community Center for a concert on Oct. 19 and considered a special event application for the Buford Sports Complex. The Football University National Championship wants to hold its regional rounds at the sports complex on the weekends of Dec. 7 and 8 and Dec. 14 and 15. It will feature 6th-, 7th- and 8th-grade teams with six games played each day. This will be the third year they will play at the complex.
