Sugar Hill seeking student essays for time capsule

SUGAR HILL — Know a student with some insightful thoughts on life in Sugar Hill? How about one with vivid dreams of what the future may hold?

The city of Sugar Hill wants them to write an essay — that will live on for three-quarters of a century.

In honor of next year’s 75th city anniversary, Sugar Hill is seeking submissions of original essays in two categories: “Life in Sugar Hill Today” and “What I Think Like in Sugar Hill Will Be in 2089.” The top five writings in each group will be buried in the city’s official time capsule as part of next year’s festivities.

“The winning writers will receive a certificate, have their entries read and recognition at the Sugar Hill time capsule ceremony in March,” officials said.

The contest is open to all K-12 students in the North Gwinnett and Lanier clusters, as well as any Sugar Hill resident that is a K-12 student in a private or home school program. The submission deadline is Nov. 29 at 4 p.m.
