SUWANEE — On Sept. 28, Tom and Laura Vooris won the coveted Crystal Award during Annandale Village’s Family Weekend.
“It was a great weekend of fellowship, visits from loved ones and we were able to award staff members … and members of the community,” Annandale’s Chief Development and Marketing Officer Keith Fenton said. “We gave it to the Voorises because they have no connection with anyone at Annandale, saw the need and acted on it.”
The husband and wife duo have donated funds, benches, a horseshoe court and their time over the years.
“We do it because of what they do (there),” Tom Vooris said. “We have a niece who has Down Syndrome, so what they do is near and dear to our heart. They make the people feel special there, so we wanted to help.”
The Crystal Award is given to an individual, organization or foundation that provided the best contributions throughout the year.
“We love that they are of the Annandale Village family,” Fenton said.
Annandale Village is based in Suwanee. Its mission is “to perpetuate a Village community to provide progressive life assistance to adults with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries so that they can maximize their abilities and maintain their independence in the least restrictive environment.”
