LAWRENCEVILLE — A Norcross man was arrested this week after allegedly posting child pornography on Twitter.

Ferman Velasco Jr., 23, was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child. Gwinnett County jail records show he is being held without bond. Police incident reports painted a disturbing picture of his alleged actions.

On Tuesday, Gwinnett County police searched electronics at Velasco Jr.’s home on Clayton Street, finding “multiple files of child pornography saved to his laptop computer and cellphone.” The suspect reportedly admitted the files were his and that he had uploaded similar images online before.

Those alleged actions included posting three photos to social media website Twitter earlier this year. It was that incident — originally reported by a Twitter staff member and passed down through multiple agencies — that led Gwinnett authorities to Velasco Jr.

“During the course of (an) interview,” the arresting officer wrote this week, “(Velasco Jr.) expressed that he had viewed so much child pornography that he had become ‘desensitized’ to it.”

Records show that Velasco Jr., 16 years old at the time, was arrested in 2006 and charged with child molestation and aggravated sodomy. The nature of that incident and its specific outcome were unclear Friday.

According to online documents, the case was originally in superior court, but a police spokesman said Friday that the case was a juvenile one. Velasco Jr. was not listed on the state sex offender registry.
