GAINESVILLE — Buford concluded its Region 7-AAA softball season with a 10-2 win over North Hall Thursday. The win improves the Wolves record to 25-1 on the season and 14-0 in the region.
Emily Crocker pitched three innings to get the win for Buford. Morgan Walters and Remington Hasty each hit home runs for the Wolves. Niki Cook and Baylee Sexton had three and two hits, respectively.
Buford plays next on Saturday at the Region Tournament in Gainesville where they, as the top seed, will face the eighth seed, West Hall.
Collins Hill 6, Habersham Central 3
MT. AIRY — Collins Hill, the Region 7-AAAAAA regular season champions, defeated Habersham Central 6-3 Thursday. Amanda Chance picked up the win in the circle for the Eagles.
Brea Dickey had two hits and and an RBI, Reagan Morgan had three hits and Laine Simmons added a pair of hits for Collins Hill.
North Gwinnett 6, Mountain View 4
SUWANEE — North Gwinnett defeated Mountain View 6-4 and locked up second place in Region 7-AAAAAA Thursday night. Kinsley Jennings was the winning pitcher for North (21-4, 11-3). She also helped her own cause with a hit and drove in two runs.
Draven Sonnon had four hits, including a home run and drove in two runs for the Bulldogs.
Mill Creek 14, Duluth 1
DULUTH — Mill Creek defeated Duluth 14-1 in four innings Thursday. Skylar Hayward was the winning pitcher for the Hawks, striking out five (21-6, 11-3).
Morgan Bell and Christina Evans each homered for Mill Creek. Hannah Adams collected two hits and drove in three runs.
Norcross 9, Peachtree Ridge 8
NORCROSS — Norcross picked up its first Region 7-AAAAAA win of the season as the Blue Devils defeated Peachtree Ridge 9-8 Thursday.
Hannah Laury provided the walk off RBI in the seventh inning for the Blue Devils (11-17, 1-13). Rickary Holloman had three hits and scored three runs for Norcross. Ally Shores drove in two with two hits.
Wesleyan 10, Providence 4
LILBURN — Riley Henning and Emily Farrow had three hits each for Wesleyan as the Wolves defeated Providence Christian 10-4 Thursday.
Dacia Jones pitched the first three innings to pick up the win for Wesleyan (16-7). Henning relieved and closed out the game for the Wolves. Jenna Bartlett had a hit and drove in two runs.
Brittany Tuttle and Katy Barry each had two hits for the Storm (11-6). MacKenzie Tuttle had a hit, scored twice and drove in a run for Providence.
Norcross sweeps three
NORCROSS — Norcross won all three of its matches Thursday night. The Blue Devils (29-14 defeated Dunwoody 25-23, 27-25. They defeated North Springs 25-21, 25-18 and finished the night by defeating Peachtree Ridge 25-17, 12-25, 25-15.
Kolby Meeks had 34 kills and 26 digs to lead Norcross. Iana Dingle had 30 digs, Sam Marshall had 16 digs and Resa Knott had 10 kills and six blocks for the Blue Devils.
GACS wins a pair
MARIETTA — Greater Atlanta Christian defeated host Wheeler and South Cobb Thursday. The Spartans (22-17) defeated the hosts 25-14, 25-22 before dispatching South, 25-9, 25-9.
Taylor McPherson had 12 kills and Kathyrn Wilson had nine kills and five aces to lead GAC. Emily Becker had 13 digs and Madison Kerr contributed 31 assists in the wins.
Wesleyan wins a tough five-setter
NORCROSS — Wesleyan outlasted Woodward Academy in a five-set marathon Thursday. The Wolves (29-8) were the victors by the score of 17-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-19 and 15-11. Lauren Frerking had 22 kills to lead the Wolves. Kendra Koetter had 42 assists, nine kills and 13 digs. Hannah Hoskin had 27 digs and Kristen Pack had 13 digs for Wesleyan.
Buford wins two
SUWANEE — Buford defeated host Collins Hill and Cambridge Thursday night. The Wolves downed the Eagles, 25-13, 25-20 and then bested Cambrige 25-21, 25-13. Gabby Curry had 20 kills and Morgan Mitchell had 28 assists to lead Buford (29-9). Collins Hill fell to Cambridge 25-19, 25-22. Jennifer Ahlswede led the Eagles (19-18) with 27 assists. Courtney Oster had 14 kills for the Eagles.
Providence Christian sweeps
JOHNS CREEK — Providence Christian defeated St. Francis 25-23, 26-24 and then defeated host Mt. Pisgah 25-20, 25-18 Thursday. Casey Rose had nine kills and 13 assists for the Storm. Megan Parker had eight kills and 12 assists, Carly Dubay had 29 digs and Anna Scott had seven kills and 16 digs for Providence.
North Gwinnett splits
SUWANEE — North Gwinnett fell to Johns Creek 25-15, 25-13 and defeated Hebron Christian 22-25, 25-21, 25-18 Thursday night. Alyssa Munlyn had 15 kills and Carson Nevels and Natalie Stout each had 13 kills for the Bulldogs. Mekenzie Cronic and Elizabeth Moss had 22 and 19 digs, respectively.
After falling to North, Hebron dropped a 25-19, 25-11 decision to Johns Creek. Eden Murray had 23 kills to lead the Lions (35-8). Anna Katherine Wilson added 42 assists on the evening.
LAWRENCEVILLE — Archer defeated Meadowcreek 25-14, 25-14 and Duluth 25-18, 21-25 and 25-21 Thursday. Zanayah Richardson had five kills and four aces. Danae Jones had 13 kills, Tiffany Cash had 25 assists and Lanisha Thomas had 11 kills for the Tigers (16-21).
Shiloh drops a pair
DACULA — Shiloh fell to Alpharetta and the host Falcons in volleyball action Thursday. The Generals lost 25-9, 25-13 to Alpharetta before dropping a 25-14, 25-11 decision to Dacula.
Briana Stith had 19 digs, Angelique Little had seven blocks and Bria Walker had 10 digs for Shiloh.
