Mill Creek’s Chris Dickhute
MEADOWCREEK at MILL CREEK
Meadowcreek Mustangs (7-AAAAAA)
Coach: George Pugh
Record: 0-4, 0-2 region
Last week: Lost to Duluth 34-7
Mill Creek Hawks (7-AAAAAA)
Coach: Shannon Jarvis
Record: 3-2, 1-2 region
Last week: Lost to Norcross 27-13
Just two weeks ago, Mill Creek was undefeated and ranked in the top 10 in the state. Then the Hawks suffered a one-point loss to Peachtree Ridge. They followed that up by being shut out in the second half of last week’s 27-13 loss to Norcross.
The Hawks will try to end their losing skid Friday when they host winless Meadowcreek. The Mustangs have a 52-game losing streak dating back to 2008. But with Mill Creek playing No. 1-ranked North Gwinnett next week, it can’t take the Mustangs lightly.
“None of our kids are in a position to look behind or ahead,” Mill Creek coach Shannon Jarvis said. “We have to get a region win. Those things are so precious.”
Chris Dickhute made 12 tackles in last week’s game, while Kijhani Sebastian added eight and Ben Otiwu and five to go with one sack.
Running back Ryan Moore leads the Meadowcreek offense. The senior rushed for 114 yards and one TD last week.
Adeniyi Henderson-Harden made 15 tackles in last week’s game.
“Their running back jumps off the film at you,” Jarvis said. “We have to play well.”
Last meeting: Mill Creek won 55-6 last year
