DULUTH — Duluth’s city manager may be fired in a specially called meeting Friday.

Few details were immediately available, but Tim Shearer, who became the city’s first manager in 2011, is on administrative leave.

The council has scheduled a special session for 5 p.m. Friday to consider terminating his contract.

After decades using with a city administrator at the helm, Shearer was hired as the government shifted to a city manager government. The Army reservist moved from California to take over the role.
