Gwinnett Farm Bureau recognized for increasing membership

Gwinnett County Farm Bureau was honored in September for its outstanding membership efforts.

The local Farm Bureau was presented the 2013 Georgia Farm Bureau Membership Award, given to county Farm Bureaus that increased their membership over the previous year, during the Georgia Farm Bureau Third District Annual Meeting.

Because of its outstanding efforts to grow and retain membership, Gwinnett County Farm Bureau also qualified to compete for statewide honors that will be announced in December.

Lawrenceville church starting cancer support group

A cancer support group is starting at McKendree United Methodist Church Tuesday, Oct. 8.

The group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in the church’s education building, room 316. The church is at 1570 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road.

Gwinnett senior citizens admitted to school events for free

Gwinnett County Public Schools offers a pass that gives senior citizens admission to any school-sponsored athletic or fine arts event for free.

Gwinnett residents who are 65 or older can attend school-related events, such as athletic games, school plays and more, free of charge. For information on how to apply for a pass, call 678-301-7274.
