PREP ROUNDUP: Felt pitches shutout in Mill Creek's 8-0 win

HOSCHTON — Mill Creek logged a huge Region 7-AAAAAA win on Tuesday night with an 8-0 shutout in five innings over visiting Habersham Central.

Heather Felt (8-2) pitched all five innings for the win, giving up just one hit and striking out one with no walks.

Kenzer Fagioli sparked the offense for the Hawks (19-6, 10-3) with a double and two RBIs, while Morgan Bell finished 3-for-4 with an RBI. Hannah Adams also helped with two hits and an RBI.

SOFTBALL

Collins Hill 4, Duluth 3

SUWANEE — Collins Hill plated a run in the bottom of the seventh inning off a bases loaded walk to come away with a 4-3 win over Duluth in a Region 7-AAAAAA game.

Duluth (13-12, 5-8) received a hit and an RBI from Toni Perrucci, while Megan Waldheim finished 2-for-3. Cassie Kooker also had a solid game by finishing 1-for-3.

North 7, Peachtree Ridge 3

SUWANEE — North Gwinnett received two hits and three RBIs from Kaitlan Andrews on Tuesday night as the Bulldogs pulled away for a 7-3 win over Peachtree Ridge in Region 7-AAAAAA.

Lindsey Cobb added two hits and drove in a run, while Emily Dennis finished 2-for-4 for North (20-4, 10-3). Makenna Dowell, Draven Sonnon and Moriah Strother also each had an RBI.

Hannah Harrison (8-2) was the winning pitcher, who went seven innings with five hits and 10 strikeouts.

Peachtree Ridge was led by Lousie Yu, who went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Savanna Turvy also had two hits and an RBI, while Lizzie Hellstein finished 2-for-3. Maiah Johnson also went 1-for-3.

Mountain View 12, Norcross 4

LAWRENCEVILLE — Cara DeSandre of Mountain View scored two runs and drove in two more on Tuesday night in helping the Bears to a 12-4 win in five innings over Norcross in a Region 7-AAAAAA game.

Shae Balzer also had a good night for the Bears (10-16, 4-9), going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs, while Sammie Daugherty finished 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.

Cierra Miller also had a hit, RBI and a run and was the winning pitcher.

Berkmar 15, Meadowcreek 3

LILBURN — Berkmar’s Jasmine White struck out 10 Mustangs on Tuesday night and tossed a complete game as the Patriots downed Meadowcreek 15-3.

Alleeyah Casper led the offense for Berkmar (4-5) by going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Asia Brown also went 2-for-2 with three runs, while Meagan Naraine added two hits and two runs.

Buford 8, Dawson Co. 0

BUFORD — Buford’s Niki Cook went 4-for-4 with two runs, one RBI and a stolen base on Tuesday night in leading the Wolves to an 8-0 win in five innings over Dawson County in a Region 7-AAA game.

Noah Sudderth added a two-run single, while Morgan Walters finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and run. Also helping on offense was Tessa Daniels, who finished 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and a run.

Bria Bush (9-1) logged the win on the mound, going five innings with one hit, no walks and nine strikeouts. Buford improved to 24-1 overall and 13-0 in the region.

Wesleyan 2, Marist 0

ATLANTA — Wesleyan avenged a loss suffered last week to Marist by shutting out the War Eagles 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Dacia Jones was the winning pitcher, delivering a complete game with five hits and three strikeouts.

The offense was led by Jameson Kavel, who went 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs. Lillie Baker also went 1-for-3.

Wesleyan scored its first run in the top of the first on a passed ball and plated an insurance run in the top of the seventh on a dropped fly ball in center.

George Walton 11,

Providence 1

MONROE — George Walton Academy topped Providence 11-1 in five innings on Tuesday night in a Region 8-A game.

Katy Barry had a hit and scored the lone run for Providence (10-15, 6-7), coming home on a hit from Abigail Roberson.

VOLLEYBALL

Brookwood finishes area play undefeated

LOGANVILLE — Brookwood closed out its Area 7-AAAAAA schedule undefeated on Tuesday night by topping Grayson 25-5, 25-14. The Broncos (19-19, 6-0) also won a non-area match with a 25-12, 25-23 sweep of Greater Atlanta Christian.

Brookwood received solid hitting from three players, getting 11 kills from Janet Galvez, 10 kills from Kendall Hardy and nine kills from Clara Sims. Galvez also served three aces, while Jordan Shipman had five kills to go along with 42 assists.

GAC (20-18) ended its night with a split by beating host Grayson 25-13, 25-13. Leaders for the Spartans were Kathryn Wilson with 10 kills and 10 digs, Emily Becker with 18 digs and five aces and Madison Kerr with 21 assists and four aces.

Archer wins two

LAWRENCEVILLE — Archer picked up two Area 7-AAAAAA wins on Tuesday night by defeating Central Gwinnett 25-21, 25-22 and Dacula 25-13, 23-25, 25-17.

Leaders for Archer (13-21, 4-2) were Zanayah Richardson (seven kills, two aces), Danae Jones (10 kills, three aces), Tiffany Cash (31 assists), Lanisha Thomas (10 kills, two blocks), Gracie Henson (six aces, five digs), Breanna Ashekun (nine kills, three blocks) and Akua Obeng/Akrofi (seven kills).

North downs Collins Hill and Shiloh

SNELLVILLE — Shiloh dropped a pair of matches at home on Tuesday night, falling to Collins Hill 25-14, 25-12 and North Gwinnett 25-12, 25-9.

Briana Smith led the Generals with 20 digs, five kills and three blocks, while Kinsasha Bell tallied seven digs, five blocks and four kills. Angelique Little finished with nine blocks and three kills, while Bebe McEwen-Lopez added eight blocks and five assists.

North Gwinnett also swept Collins Hill, beating the Eagles in two games 25-12, 25-15.

Top players for Collins Hill (19-16) were Sabrina Saavedra with 11 digs, Jennifer Ahlswede with 24 assists and Courtney Oster with 12 kills.

Wesleyan wins two on road

LILBURN — Wesleyan ran its record to 28-8 on Tuesday night with wins over Berkmar and Parkview in a pair of non-area matches. Wesleyan swept Berkmar 25-3, 25-9 and took down host Parkview in two games 25-10, 25-16.

Leaders for Wesleyan were Maddie Jones with seven kills, Lauren Frerking with 16 kills and eight aces, Emma Bivings with six kills and four aces, Kristen Pack with five digs and Hannah Hoskin with 12 digs.

Wesleyan has now won 21 of its last 22 matches.

Parkview finished its night with a split by defeating Berkmar 25-13, 25-8 in an Area 7-AAAAAA match. Rachel Rust led Parkview (5-1 in area) with 13 digs, seven kills and six aces, while Alexis Bourgeois added 10 assists, three kills, two digs and one block.

Hebron posts two wins

ATHENS — Hebron added two more wins to its record on Tuesday night with sweeps over Clarke Central 25-12, 25-16) and host Athens Academy 25-8, 25-15.

Top hitter for Hebron (35-6) was Eden Murray with 19 kills, while Regan Long added seven. Sarah Blahnik delivered solid serving with 12 aces, while Anna Katherine Wilson guided the offense with 42 assists.
