Mr. Oscar Thomas Herren (Jerry), age 82, formerly of Lilburn, GA entered his heavenly rest on Sunday, September 29, 2013. Mr. Herren was born on March 23, 1931 in Rena Laura, MS. He was the son of William and Lucy Herren. Mr. Herren faithfully served in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1969. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1970. He served as a special agent for the Atlanta Bureau of the FBI from 1970-1979. He was an active member of the American Legion of Avondale Estates and the Elks Club, Decatur/Northlake. He attended Lucerne Baptist Church. Mr. Herren is survived by the love of his life, Eleanor B. Herren, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage; his son Rickey Herren and wife Melani; his daughter Brenda Stewart and husband Kevin; grandchildren Alison Earnhardt and husband Joseph, Matthew Herren, Brittany Herren, and Jennifer Stewart; great-granddaughter Julia Earnhardt. He is also survived by his brother John Ed Herren.
The service Honoring The Life of Oscar Thomas Herren will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. at Lucerne Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens with full military honors.
