Body found in Chattahoochee ID'd as Gwinnett man

JOHNS CREEK — A body found Monday in the Chattahoochee River in the area of Johns Creek has been identified as that of a Gwinnett man.

According to the Johns Creek Police Department, the body of Omar Hugh Richards, 29, was found by two kayakers about a mile south of the McGinnis Ferry Road bridge.

The Johns Creek Fire Department’s Swift Water Rescue Team recovered the body, which was snagged in a fallen tree. No cause of death has been determined.

Doug Nurse, spokesman for the Johns Creek Police Department, said Richards had been missing since Sept. 22.
