PREP ROUNDUP: Mill Creek tips Chestatee in OT to win Tabo's Tipoff Tournament

JEFFERSON — Mill Creek defeated Chestatee 47-46 in overtime to win the Tabo’s Tipoff Tournament on Saturday.

The Hawks (3-0) had three players score in double figures. Madison Phillips led Mill Creek with 12. Meredith Schultze and Kathleen Haxton added 11 and 10, respectively. Schultze was named the Tournament MVP and Phillips was named to the All-Tournament Team.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Duluth 92, East Hall 72

ALPHARETTA — Bryce Wooten scored 26 points to lead Duluth to its first victory of the season with a 92-72 win over East Hall in the St. Francis On-the-Radar Invitational Saturday.

Kai Lambert had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats (1-3). Zaynah Robinson added 17 and Anthony Showell scored 14 for Duluth.

Parkview 67, Mill Creed 51

JEFFERSON — Parkview defeated Mill Creek 67-51 in the third-place game at the Tabo’s Tipoff Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers are now 3-1 on the season, which equals its win total from last season.

Malik Abraham led Parkview with 23 points and was named to the All Tournament Team. Christian Embry and Parker Role each scored 10 for the Panthers.

Mill Creek was led by Eric Ritland, who scored 12 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Clarke Central 83, Apalachee 70

ATHENS — Apalachee dropped its Region 8-AAAAA opener, falling 83-70 to Clarke Central Saturday night. Kamar Baldwin led the Wildcats (2-1,0-1) with 34 points. Joey German added 19 for Apalachee.

Brookwood 96, Athens Christian 70

SNELLVILLE — Brookwood improved to 4-0 on the season with a 96-70 win over Athens Christian Saturday night.

Kendall Joseph led the Broncos with 24 points. Michah Kinsey had 18 points and nine assists and Nate Gill added 16 for Brookwood. Jordan Benjamin had 11 points and Deion Dedeaux dished out 10 assists in the win.
