WINDER — Barrow County firefighters will collect toys for needy children during the coming weekends.
The department’s annual Empty Stocking Toy Drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each of the next two Saturdays, during which time those interested can drop off new, unwrapped toys at the Barrow Crossing shopping center. All toys will be distributed through Family Connection Communities In Schools of Barrow County.
“This event helps so many Barrow County children at Christmas time and we are honored to host it each year,” Barrow County fire department spokesman Lt. Scott Dakin said. “We also have the opportunity to meet some of our great citizens.”
A fire truck and ambulance will mark the exact spot for donations. The Barrow Crossing shopping center is located on Loganville Highway just off Ga. Highway 316 in Bethlehem.
Those who cannot make it to the official donation site can also drop off donations at an Barrow County fire station.
“I know this will be a very successful Empty Stocking Toy Drive and I thank the citizens for their help,” Dakin said.
