DACULA — It took two extra periods, but Hebron finally came away winners with a 94-90 decision over Monroe Area on Tuesday night.
Two players for Hebron topped the 20-point mark, led by 27 points from Cory Johnson, followed by 25 more from Derek Vandiver.
Luke Crawford also delivered a double-double for Hebron (2-0) with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Collins Hill 72, South 64
SUWANEE — Devin Mitchell logged 23 points, eight rebounds and six assists on Tuesday night, guiding Collins Hill to a 72-64 win over South Gwinnett in the season opener for the Eagles.
Jalen Mitchell also had a big game for Collins Hill (1-0) with 22 points and eight rebounds.
South (1-1) also had a player hit for 20 points in Roberto Gallinat.
Parkview 70, Lithonia 63
LITHONIA — Parkview trailed by as many as 17 points in the second quarter, but rallied in the second half to top Lithonia 70-63 in the Panthers’ season opener.
Malik Abraham scored 30 points to lead the comeback, while Christian Embry helped with 14 points. Parker Role also chipped in for Parkview (1-0) by scoring 10 points.
Brookwood 68, Duluth 55
DULUTH — Four different Brookwood players scored in double figures as the Broncos topped Duluth 68-55 on Tuesday night.
Senior Nate Rosetti led the way with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Deion Dedeaux added 12 points and five assists. Also helping out for Brookwood (1-0) were R.J. Smith and Kendall Joseph with 11 points each.
Central 80, East Paulding 65
DALLAS — Central Gwinnett opened its season on the road with an 80-65 win over East Paulding on Tuesday night.
Three Black Knights hit double-digits in points, led by 21 from Shaun Jones. Khalil Ozuna followed with 13 points, while Kameron Jimenez-Fox finished with 10.
Archer 65, Mountain View 39
LAWRENCEVILLE — Archer opened its season with a 65-39 win over Mountain View on Tuesday night.
Kwei Lartey led the Tigers (1-0) with 15 points, while Jeremiah Buford finished with 10 points.
Mountain View (0-2) was led by eight points from Deante Harris.
Grayson 69, Walnut Grove 47
LOGANVILLE — Three Grayson players hit for double digits Tuesday night as the Rams pulled away for a 69-47 win at Walnut Grove.
Austin Morris was the top scorer for Grayson (1-0) with 15 points. He also had three steals and three assists. Austin Dukes added 11 points and four assists, while Marquise Lanier finished with 11 points and six rebounds.
Lanier 47, Providence 37
LILBURN — Lanier notched its first win of the young season Tuesday night by holding off Providence 47-37.
Simon Shafack led the way for Lanier (1-1) with 22 points, while Bryan Gropp scored 15.
Top scorer for Providence was ABJ Kushanu with 13.
Wesleyan 47, Pinecrest 40
NORCROSS — Wesleyan ran its record to 2-0 with a 47-40 win at home over Pinecrest Academy on Tuesday night.
Freshman Brian Coffey put in 24 points to lead the Wolves, while Reggie Bynum followed up by scoring 12.
Parkview 93, Lithonia 14
Kirk Call’s first game as head coach at Parkview was a success as the Panthers opened their season with a resounding 93-14 win at Lithonia on Tuesday.
Thirteen different Panthers scored, led by 16 points from Genesis Perrymond. Autumn Sizemore followed with 12 points, while Tatiana Wayne scored 11.
Leading rebounder for Parkview (1-0) was Vickie Harris with eight.
Duluth 53, Brookwood 46
DULUTH — Duluth freshman Endia Banks led all players with 27 points Tuesday night, helping give the Wildcats a 53-46 win over visiting Brookwood.
Duluth (1-0) led 28-9 at the half and held off Brookwood in the final two quarters. Jazmyn Johnson added eight points for the Wildcats.
Taryn Dennie scored 20 to lead Brookwood.
South 43, Collins Hill 37
SUWANEE — South Gwinnett won its second game in a row on Tuesday night with a 43-37 win at Collins Hill.
Sophomore Asheika Alexander led South (2-0) with 13 points, while Arielle Harvey added 13 points.
Shiloh 67, Allatoona 51
SNELLVILLE — Shiloh tipped of its season on Tuesday night with a 67-51 win at home over Allatoona.
The top performer for Shiloh (1-0) was Kaylen Ward, who finished with 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks.
Racquel Cranston followed with 16 points, five steals, eight rebounds and two assists, while Kierra Ward chipped in with 11 points, four steals and two assists.
Grayson 58, Walnut Grove 52
LOGANVILLE — Grayson’s defense recorded 30 steals on Tuesday night and the Rams came from behind to top Walnut Grove 58-52 in their season opener.
Shakara Burton was the leading scorer for Grayson (1-0) with 14 points to go along with six steals, while Lika Bah added 13 points and eight steals.
Lanier 41, Providence 18
LILBURN — Lanier logged its first win of the season on Tuesday night with a 41-18 triumph over Providence.
Lauren Brown led the Longhorns (1-1) with 13 points and seven steals, while Amber Cesair followed with 12 points and five steals. I’mon Washington also helped with 10 rebounds and four points.
Providence, which fell to 1-1, was led by eight points from Laura Per-Lee.
Hebron 42, Monroe Area 31
DACULA — Hannah Lentz led all players with 17 points on Tuesday night as Hebron beat Monroe Area 42-31 at home.
Jozie Lewis also chipped in with eight points for Hebron (2-0), while Ashleigh Stanley and Brooke Davis each scored seven.
Meadowcreek edges GAC
NORCROSS — Kevin Bonilla of Meadowcreek recorded a win in the 170-pound match to secure the Mustangs’ 39-36 win over Greater Atlanta Christian on Tuesday night.
Other winners for Meadowcreek (3-1) were Raymond Washington at 132 pounds, Nihgee Eddington at 145, William Bailey at 160, O.G. Henderson-Harden at 195, Ryan Moore at 220 and Lamarcus Bailey at 285.
Scoring pinfalls for GAC (3-3) were Justin Van Leeuwen at 113, Emeritus Morris at 138, Carter Clinebell at 152 and Rory Alston at 182.
