STATHAM — Authorities are investigating the believed murder of a 24-year-old Statham man.
Barrow County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Matt Guthas said the man, whose identity has not been released, was “found dead in his home by a family member” at about 8 a.m. Tuesday. That home is on Kirkland Circle in Statham.
Few other details were released. Guthas said investigators were “searching the scene for forensic evidence, interviewing potential witnesses and following leads.”
“There is no suspect information available for release at this time,” Guthas said, “but the sheriff’s office is investigating leads in that area.”
A believed cause of death was not made public either, with officials citing the preliminary nature of the case.
“The investigation is, however, rapidly evolving and more information will be released when it becomes available,” Guthas said.
