SUWANEE — Mountain View opened its season by winning all five matches at the North Gwinnett Duals on Saturday. The Bears defeated Cambridge (39-38), Forsyth Central (45-36), Shiloh (84-0), Luella (47-30) and North Gwinnett (57-21).
Adam Flatt and Octavian Jarda each won all five of their matches. Sam Ezzell, Justin George, Will Adams and Austin Brown had four wins on the day.
GAC goes 3-2 at tourney
SUGAR HILL — Greater Atlanta Christian won three of its five matches Saturday at Lanier High School. The Spartans defeated Berkmar (42-39), St. Francis (45-24) and Mill Creek (45-32). GAC fell to South Forsyth (21-49) and Lambert (30-36).
Carter Clinebell (145) went 5-0, while teammate Kyle Politz (132) posted a 4-0 mark on the day. Austin Phan (120) and Emeritus Morris (138) each went 4-1 for the Spartans.
Three Berkmar wrestlers go undefeated
SUGAR HILL — Berkmar opened its wrestling season with a meet at Lanier on Saturday. The team lost to Greater Atlanta Christian (42-39), St. Francis (48-35), Buford (54-27), Mill Creek (42-39) and South Forsyth (54-28).
Three Patiots went undefeated on the day. Ethan Castaneda (160), Mamadou Soumahoro (195) and Jose Acosta (220) each recorded five wins.
NORCROSS — Meadowcreek won two of three matches as it opened its season Saturday. The Mustangs defeated Druid Hills 70-24 and Stephenson 51-24 and dropped a 46-30 decision to Norcross.
Nihgee Eddington (145), Adeniyi Henderson-Harden (160) and Ryan Moore (220) each went undefeated on the day.
Norcross 64, Jonesboro 20
NORCROSS — Norcross, the defending Class AAAAAA champion, opened its season with a 64-20 win over Jonesboro on Saturday. The Blue Devils jumped out to a 35-5 lead in the second quarter and coasted to the finish.
Tylia Gillespie had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead Norcross. Sierra Butler had 13 points, Vashnie Perry had 10 points and five steals and Allison Johnson had 10 points for the Blue Devils.
GAC 42, Luella 36
ALPHARETTA — Greater Atlanta Christian improved to 2-0 on the season with a 42-36 win over Luella in the Hoops for a Cure Classic on Saturday.
Brianna Cummings led the Spartans with 21 points while Sydni Means pitched in 10 in the win.
Mount Vernon 27
LILBURN — Providence Christian opened its season with a 40-27 win over Mount Vernon on Saturday. Megan Park had 21 points and Brittany Tuttle added seven points for the Storm.
Salem 79, Meadowcreek 34
CONYERS — Meadowcreek fell 79-34 to Salem in its season opener on Saturday. Ashley Okoku led the Mustangs (0-1) with 11 points.
Ribault (Fla.) 52
JACKSONVILLE — Berkmar evened up its record as it defeated Ribault 56-52 in the City of Rivers Classic in Jacksonville on Saturday.
Klair Crouch paced the Patriots (1-1) with 19 points. Tim Rowe had 11 points and Berkmar received strong efforts from Al Burham, Jonathan Sanks and James Sanders.
