LAWRENCEVILLE — Gwinnett County is joining a national recycling initiative with an event this Saturday.
The county is celebrating America Recycles Day by collecting batteries, electronics and tires from 9 a.m. to noon at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville. The event will be hosted by the Gwinnett County Solid Waste and Recovered Materials Division.
Those who wish to recycle tires are limited to eight tires per vehicle. There is also a $10 cash fee for recycling TVs.
Those who attend are asked to bring along old sneakers to be donated to individuals in need or to be recycled into usable surfaces for playgrounds and running tracks.
The event will also include activities for kids, free food while supplies last and more.
