DULUTH — It may be cold this weekend, but there is something that you and your pooch can do inside together.
On Saturday, the third annual Atlanta Pet Expo stops by the Gwinnett Convention Center. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., pets and their owners have a chance to watch demonstrations, look through more than 75 vendor booths, receive low cost vaccinations or join in the pet costume contest.
There is also a chance to meet Shorty Rossi from Animal Planet’s show “Pit Boss.”
“There are so many pet-friendly resources available to pet lovers and owners in their communities and our goal is to help get that information out there,” Patti Welch of Amazing Pet Expos said. “Plus, people have few options that allow them to spend a day bonding with their pet in an indoor environment where it’s all about the pets. This is a fun-filled, pet-friendly day for pet owners — or those who’d like to be.”
If you are looking to add a pet to your family, there are hundreds of adoptable pets on site.
“The Banfield Mega-Adoption Area is always a very popular element of our shows,” Welch said. “Nothing compares to seeing the connection between someone and their new forever pet friend.”
Pets are welcome to attend the event, as long as they’re on a fixed leash and have proof of age-appropriate rabies vaccines. If your pet is not up-to-date, there will be discounted vaccinations and low-cost microchipping available provided by Planned PEThood of Georgia. There are also free nail trims provided by Georgia Canine Rescue and Rehab.
Admission is free. For more information, visit www.atlantapetexpo.com.
