Gwinnett Daily Post
A Suwanee woman driving with an expired license has been charged in the crash that killed her 3-year-old daughter.
Gwinnett County jail records show Hyunmi Lim, 38, of Suwanee, was arrested Monday and charged with misdemeanor vehicular homicide, failure to yield, expired license and safety restraint required for children. She was released on $3,900 bond.
Authorities believe Lim made an improper left turn last month, triggering the crash that claimed the life of one of her children.
According to police reports from the Oct. 10 incident, Lim was driving her Honda Accord eastbound on Satellite Boulevard with two children, ages 3 and 5, in the back seat. With a solid green light — no arrow — in each direction, Lim attempted to make a left turn onto Commerce Avenue.
She pulled “directly into the path” of a Ford F-150 pickup truck, police said, causing a collision.
While both drivers and one child suffered minor injuries, Lim’s 3-year-old daughter was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta with life-threatening injuries. The toddler, identified as Ohnew Lee, later died.
Neither speed nor alcohol were believed to be factors in the crash. Police said both of Lim’s children were “in booster seats in the back of her vehicle.”
