OUTLOOK: Head coach Marsha Jones inherited a five-win team that was already in rebuilding mode when she took over prior to last season, then injuries to a pair of expected starters made her job even more difficult. There is good news on that front with the return of Racquel Cranston from a knee injury. The junior, who missed all of last season, averaged 8.2 points as a Shiloh freshman. She is part of a strong junior class — along with Courtney Blair, Uche Ibebunjo, Kiva Thompson, Kierra Ward and Davida White — that won the 2011 Gwinnett County eighth-grade title with an unbeaten record. That team was coached by Jones, so she knows these players well. She has two seniors on the roster, Kaylen Ward and Brianna Dodd.

WORTH NOTING: The Generals won just two games last season, but both were region victories. They defeated Central Gwinnett, a state playoff team, and Grayson. … Jones was promoted last season middle school head coach to high school head coach. She worked previously in the South Gwinnett cluster before moving to the Shiloh cluster in 2008. … She will carry six sophomores and freshmen on the varsity roster.

FAST FACT: Shiloh has struggled to a 10-64 record the past three seasons, but it hasn’t always been that way. It made seven state tournament appearances in a 10-year span from 2000-09.
