OUTLOOK: The Tigers are coming off their best-ever season and second straight playoff appearance. They finished as Region 8-AAAAAA runner-up to Parkview and reached the Class AAAAAA Sweet 16 before running into powerful and eventual state runner-up North Gwinnett. A strong core of regulars return from that team, including point guard Madison Newby, who ranked fourth in Gwinnett County in scoring (18.5) and averaged 4.6 assists as a sophomore. Alesha Mann, Cii Cii Marseille (5.1 rebounds per game) and Kayla Rogers (10.3 points per game). An influx of young talent, courtesy of a loaded freshman class, will give Ryan Lesniak his deepest team ever. Most of Lesniak’s talent is still on the younger side, with Mann and Holli Sturgill being the top seniors contributors.

WORTH NOTING: Archer got a huge offseason boost with the transfer of Amber Skidgel from Hebron Christian. Skidgel, despite constant defensive pressure from opponents last season, averaged 21.7 points for the Lions as a sophomore. … Newby’s sister, Autumn Newby, is ranked as one of the top freshman players nationally as she enters high school. She is the only Gwinnett player and one of four Georgians on the ESPNW HoopGurlz national rankings for the Class of 2017.

FAST FACT: Archer graduated the program’s career leading rebounder, Marissa Jordan, off last season’s team. Just 5-6, she still grabbed 576 career boards.
