After a brutal three-game stretch that has seen them face three serious postseason contenders, the Lions close out the season against a Towns County team in many ways like themselves.

“We’re kind of in a similar situation,” Hebron coach Kevin Shaffer said. “Our records are about the same.

“Both of us had hoped for a little better. I think it will be a great matchup to finish the season and a well-fought game.”

The Indians have won three of their last four games against a considerably easier slate, and their size concerns Shaffer.

Still, the Lions could be in a position to use its speed advantage, particularly if they can give Connor Holliday enough protection to find receivers like Jacob Harper and Matthew Glisson in the open field.

“We need to step up our passing offense and defense,” Shaffer said. “Mostly this week, we need to get our offense going.

“Connor’s been through quite a lot and he’s definitely progressing. We’ve been spreading it out pretty good.”

Last meeting: Towns Co. won 28-13 last year
