BRASELTON —The town of Braselton is ushering in the holiday season this weekend.
The annual lighting of the town’s holiday tree, sponsored by the Braselton Rotary Club, will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday in front of Braselton Antique Mall off Ga. Highway 53.
The Northeast Church and Galilee Christian church choirs will present holiday music in front of the store beginning at 5:00 PM. Lady Liberty and Chief Warrant Officer Doug Kirkland will light the traditional tree during the festivities.
The town is partnering with the Jackson County Family Connection to encourage attendees to bring unwrapped gifts for children and families to the tree lighting. New toys or new clothing items are needed for children up to age 18 to ensure that families in need of assistance receive help during the holiday season. Gift cards, stocking stuffers or cash donations will also be accepted. Contributions are tax-deductible, and more details are available by calling 706.367-3021.
The evening will conclude with another family-themed movie under the stars in the Braselton Park. “Monsters University” will be presented by the Braselton Visitors Bureau Authority at 7:30 p.m. Chairs or blankets are welcomed and concessions will be available. Both the tree lighting and the movie are free to attend.
