GRAYSON — After months of campaigning and 12 hours of voting, the residents of Grayson choose Linda Jenkins to the position of Post 4 for the city council.

She received 121 votes compared to Laura Gavulic’s 101 votes.

“I am just impressed that that many people came out in Grayson and voted on what a could of been a low interest race,” said the retired Gwinnett County Public School teacher.”There was a nice amount of votes and I appreciate everyone who gave some to me.”

The 69-year-old grandmother was on Grayson’s city council from 1977 to 1982.

While on council, Jenkins hopes to keep less government intervention in people’s lives and to promote orderly growth in the city, including beautification projects, planting trees in the medians and building a smaller amphitheater for movies and concerts.

Allison Wilkerson ran unopposed for mayor and Trenton Arnold was unopposed for Post 2.
