DULUTH — Since its foundation in 2009, the Duluth-based nonprofit Helping Other People Be Empowered has seen tremendous growth.
It has recently added a new award to its resume: a 2013 top-rated nonprofit by GreatNonprofits.
“We are excited to be named a top-rated 2013 Nonprofit,” said Kenita Pierce-Lewis, president CEO of H.O.P.E. Inc. “We are proud of our accomplishments this year, including growing our program 50 percent, forming key partnerships to expand our services and increasing the number of volunteers by 36-plus.”
The Top-Rated Nonprofit award was based on the large number of positive reviews that H.O.P.E. Inc. received, which includes reviews written by volunteers, donors and clients.
“Savvy donors want to see the impact of their donations more than ever,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “People with direct experience with H.O.P.E. Inc. have voted that the organization is making a real difference.”
H.O.P.E.’s mission is “to serve low-income single parents working to obtain a college degree by providing assistance in rent, child care, social services and life-skills training.”
