The Gwinnett Ballet Theatre’s official photographer has got some big news.
Richard Calmes’ images will be featured in an exhibit at The National Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
“It is very exciting to be selected for this exhibition,” he said. “Many wonderful photographers have been exhibited in this program, and I am honored to be in their company.”
The exhibit is “Dance Magic: the Photography of Richard Calmes” and will be on view from April 2014 to April 2015. It was selected under the museum’s Art in the Foyer program, which annually welcomes dance-inspired art.
Calmes is an internationally known dance photographer with two published books of dance photography, “Dance Magic” and “Water Dance.” In the past decade, he has shot 21 magazine covers and been a part of exhibitions in Great Britain and the U.S.
The exhibit will include between 15 to 20 of Calmes’ photos.
On May 30, the museum is hosting a reception for “Dance Magic.”
