DULUTH -- If you need an excuse to get off of the couch, beer and music await at the Duluth Town Green on Saturday.
It's the city's inaugural Brews and Tunes Festival, boasting more than 250 craft beers and live performances throughout the afternoon.
"We've never had a beer festival before, and we think our citizens deserve one," said Brian Bentley, event coordinator for the city of Duluth.
Saturday is a day for sampling hundreds of beers. Attendees have a chance to sip two- to three-ounce portions of everything from Allagash's Four Ale and Terrapin's Tree Hugger Altcentric Ale to Mother Earth's Sunny Haze Hefeweizen and Monday Night Brewing's FuManBru -- just to name a few.
When you get the munchies, there are several vendors selling pizza, brats, hot dogs, tacos, barbecue, hamburgers and desserts on site.
During the day, party band Mercury Orkestar, bluegrass group Smokey's Farmland Band and up-and-coming Atlanta rock group The Acorns will take the stage for entertainment.
All general admission and VIP tickets sold prior to Saturday are eligible for a door prize drawing. The winner will get a free growler from Duluth's Best of Brews and a fill per week for 52 weeks.
Those who buy VIP admission to the event will have access to exclusive beers. VIP admission tickets can be purchased online for $85. VIP admission also includes entrance to a VIP area/tent, appetizers and a goody bag filled with "brewery swag." Those who buy VIP tickets also get in one hour early to the event.
Attendees must be 21 years and older to enter the event with a valid ID. No pets are allowed into the festival.
