SNELLVILLE Raleigh Franklin Raleigh Hollan Franklin, age 82, of Snellville, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 28, 2013. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Christine Wages Franklin; three daughters & sons-in-law, Judy & Richard Conner, Jackye & Tommy Gann, and Lynn & Charlie Gainey; 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; seven sisters and brothers, Kathleen & Kenneth Sorrells, Andy & Syble Franklin, Felton & Lorraine Franklin, Virginia Brogdon, Rastus & Barbara Franklin, Yvonne & Don Schubele, and Jane Beaver; brother-in-law, Gene & Ellan Wages, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and a huge church family at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mr. Franklin was predeceased by his son, Robert Franklin; parents, Sam & Hattie Franklin, brother, Jewett Franklin (Catherine), sister, Nell Duncan (Roy). Hollan was born in Dacula, Georgia on February 28, 1931. He was a 1948 graduate of Dacula High School and retired from the Atlanta Gas Light Co. after 31 years of service. Hollans greatest joy in life was his family. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and was a man who read his bible daily and lived his life for his Lord and Savior. Hollan was a devoted member, deacon (38 years), and Sunday school class teacher at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He received the Heritage Award for his faithful service to Mt Zion. He will be greatly missed by his adoring family and many friends. The Service Honoring the Life of Hollan Franklin will be held Friday, May 31, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff A. Gongwer and Rev. J. B. Reese, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, May 29th, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Thursday, May 30th from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker. Flowers are accepted, but those desiring may make donations to the 160 and Beyond Building Fund at Mt.
