NORCROSS -- A Lawrenceville mother allegedly failed to maintain her lane and was believed to be driving drunk on Saturday night with six children in the car.

Rachel Rosario, 31, was reported to a Gwinnett County Police DUI Task Force member after she was pulled over at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday at Beaver Ruin Road and Phil Niekro Parkway in Norcross. The six children in the 2003 Cadillac Escalade ranged in age from 5 to 12-years-old.

At the central precinct, police took a blood sample from Rosario after she refused the state breath test, according to a Gwinnett police incident report.

Rosario was booked into the Gwinnett jail on Saturday on six charges DUI-child endangerment, DUI, improper or erratic lane change and failure to have license on person. She was released on Monday, according to jail records.

Rosario's husband picked up the Escalade and the children at the scene.

Driving while drinking and others in the same car isn't anything new in Georgia? Why a story of one incident?

It has a lot to do with having 6 children, all 12 and under in the car while driving drunk. How many seats with belts does an Escolade have? My guess is the children were not only subject to her dangerous driving, but if she had been in a wreck, would they have been properly restrained and saved from death or critical injury?

Ms. Rosario was jailed on 7 total DUI charges. One DUI on operating a vehicle while impared, and 6 counts of DUI - Child Endangerment. The 6 children were aged from 5 to 12 years old.

The eyewitness accounts of her impairment indicate she is lucky to not have killed anyone. It was all over other metro media outlets before the GDP decided to report on it.
