Open since: May 1

Owners: Brothers Rahim and Karim Sadruddin

Location: The Uptown Grille is located in the shops of Suwanee Town Center, where Olde Town Tavern was formerly situated.

Hours: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays

Atmosphere: The inside is large -- very large -- with several dining rooms, a bar and outdoor patio seating.

Blues, blacks, browns and tans are the dominate colors throughout the space, including black linen table clothes and napkins.

At the bar, there is stained glass panes on one side, while massive windows are on the other side -- all of them open up completely to an outside seating area.

In the back there is a large room that fits up to 50 people, but it is regularly part of the dining area for the weekends. In case guests need to give a presentation, this room has a large screen and podium that can be used for companies, businesses and churches.

"We trying to doing a classic, clean, up-scale family restaurant," General Manager Larry Parker said. "We're definitely going to be involved in the community."

He has already committed time and money into the North Gwinnett school cluster and George Pierce Park.

Menu: The Uptown Grille serves America food -- burgers, sandwiches, salads and entrees with everything made from scratch.

Currently, the most popular dish is the cedar plank salmon, which is served on top of a smoked Gouda risotto and asparagus spears, then drizzled with a home made lemon beurre blanc sauce (white butter sauce).

If you don't want something that big, there is calamari, an artichoke tomato salad, Reuben sandwich and a bacon, egg and cheese burger. Really, a little something for every palate.

On the dessert menu, Uptown serves creme brulee, New York cheesecake, seasonal sorbet and home made ice cream, but Parker prefers the hot brownie sundae.

"I'm more of an ice cream sundae person myself," he said. "I make the brownies. It makes me feel like I'm at home cooking for my kids."

The restaurant has a full bar with domestic, international and craft beers, plus liquor. The bar is currently working on a specialty cocktail menu.

One thing that stands out is a particular shot: the "train shot." Every day, several times a day, a train passes by Town Center Park, tooting its horn. When that happens, everyone at the bar receives a "train shot" at a discounted price.

Things you might not know: Uptown Grille hosts acoustic musicians Thursdays (7 to 10 p.m.), Fridays and Saturdays (8 to 11 p.m.).
