Brookwood grad Jessica Neidigh, a sophomore at Anderson University, was named the first-team Daktronics All-American selection at second base this week.
Neidigh, an All-South Atlantic Conference selection, started every game this season as the Trojans posted a school-record 40 wins en route to the school's first-ever appearance in the NCAA's Southeast Super Regional
Neidigh ranked 15th in the nation and led the SAC with a .457 batting average and 66 runs scored from her leadoff spot. She finished with a league-leading 90 hits on the season, and posted a team-best 17-game hitting streak between the season opener vs. Augusta State on Feb. 2 and Feb. 27.
She earned SAC Player of the Week accolades in early April after going a perfect 9-for-9 in the weekend doubleheader at Lincoln Memorial and hit .731 on the week (19-of-26), with three doubles, a triple and a home run and scored nine runs, while driving in six runs. She posted a slugging percentage of 1.038. Neidigh recorded 29 multi-hit games during the season.
"It is quite an honor for Jessica especially considering she is just a sophomore," said Anderson head coach Tommy Hewitt. "This proves she is one of the best out there."
