12 locals picked for all-state lacrosse

Five boys players and seven girls players from Gwinnett schools were recently selected to the 2013 All-State High School Lacrosse team by High School Coaches Council of the local chapter of U.S. Lacrosse.

The highest honors went to Wesleyan's duo of defender Emily Farrow and attacker Courtney O'Leary, who were each named to the girls first team in the combined Classes A-AAAAA.

Five other local girls players earned all-state honors in Class AAAAAA, with Mill Creek defender Maddie Beck being named to the second team, while Collins Hill midfielder/attacker Abby Squires, Duluth midfielder Ali Cole, Mill Creek midfielder Tori Windom and Peachtree Ridge attacker Darby Frisbie.

Local boys all-state honorees included second-team selections Jacob Lee and Steven Lee of Peachtree Ridge and Nick Kozlowski of Mill Creek, plus honorable mention selection Jordan Johnson of Peachtree Ridge.

In addition, Peachtree Ridge's Matt Lynch was named an Academic All-American for his combined work on the lacrosse field and in the classroom.
