Young Spartans place fourth in AA boys golf tourney

VIDALIA — With an ultra-young lineup, the Greater Atlanta Christian boys golfers finished fourth in Monday's Class AA State Tournament at Rocky Creek Golf Club.

The Spartans, who have three freshmen and two sophomores in their top five, shot 304 to finish behind Lovett (301), Oglethorpe County (300) and champion Westminster (295).

Freshmen Steffen Smith and Ben Shipp shot 74 and 75, respectively, for GAC's top two scores. Teammates and sophomores Reagan Cink (76) and Connor Schanen (79) also shot in the 70s.

Wesleyan finished seventh in AA boys, shooting 318. Cody Solomon led the Wolves with a 76, Nick Ross shot 77 and Hunter Dixon added an 80.
