Grayson to hosts summer farmers' market

GRAYSON -- Grayson has decided to join its sister Gwinnett cities Lilburn and Snellville in sponsoring a farmers' market this summer.

Grayson Mayor Jim Hinkle announced at the council meeting Monday night that the market will be held Wednesday afternoons during the summer with June 5 as the opening date for the kickoff. There will be about 25 fresh fruit and vegetable producers for the first day, and will include related vendors such as honey and fresh flowers.

The market will be open from 4 to 8 p.m.

In other business, the council:

-- Received a $2,300 gift from the recently completed Grayson Day, and the panel agreed to purchase two adult metal swings for Grayson Park with city personnel doing the installation.

-- Recognized the Grayson United Methodist Church float as the best non-commercial float in the 34th annual Grayson Day parade.

-- Passed a policy which complies with state law for the city to retain documents for a certain period of time before disposing of them.

-- Awarded fall tree trimming work at Grayson Park to Homer Adams.

-- Agreed to wait until next year before modifying its Christmas tree sign.
