SNELLVILLE -- Need a little mystery in your life? Look no further, sleuth. New London Theatre presents "Hound of the Baskervilles," which opens today.
The story follows Conan Doyle's famous characters Sherlock Holmes, the 221B Baker St. detective, and Dr. John Watson, Holmes's stalwart assistant.
In this modern-day version, Sir Charles Baskerville is found dead on the grounds of his country house, Baskerville Hall. It seemed to be a heart attack, but a family friend worries for the heir, Sir Henry Baskerville. There is rumored to be a family death curse on this fortune (and a bloodthirsty hound). Only Holmes can get to the bottom of it.
While investigating, Holmes and Watson come across several clues that take the case in another direction. Instead of a terrifying canine, it seems the blame could be someone who lives on or near the moors of Baskervilles. But who? Servants, butterfly collectors, ladies in distress or escaped convicts?
It's up to the two men to figure out where superstition ends and reality begins.
The play runs through June 2.
