Gwinnett grads lead GCSU baseball into regionals

Grayson grad Clay Ardeeser and Duluth grad John Clark played key roles last week as Georgia College and State University won the Peach Belt Conference Baseball Tournament and earned a berth into the NCAA South Regional, which begins today.

Ardeeser led all players in the tournament with a .500 batting average, going 8-for-16 with a home run, a double, four RBIs and four runs scored. The All-Peach Belt first baseman is now hitting .372 with eight home runs, 17 doubles, 56 RBIs and 54 runs scored this season, ranking 20th nationally in hits with 73.

Clark pitched a complete game in the tournament against UNC-Pembroke, striking out 13 -- the second-most strikeouts ever in a Peach Belt tournament game. Clark improved to 5-1 on the season.
