Peachtree Ridge to honor college-bound athletes

Peachtree Ridge plans to honor 24 senior athletes who are playing sports at the college level with a ceremony Thursday in the high school's theater. The event begins at 2:30 p.m.

The sport with the most representatives is soccer, sending Raul Diaz (North Georgia), Marrkus Reese (Limestone), Esther Cano (Georgia Southwestern), Olivia Hall (North Georgia) and Macey Raines (Shorter) to the next level.

Baseball players Tyler Chaney (North Georgia), Tyler Haswell (South Carolina) and Anthony Perez (Gordon) also will be honored, as will cross country/track and field standouts Josh Brickell (Furman), Lexi Shy (Roger Williams), Darian Horn (Akron), Paige Tucker (Kennesaw State) and Tiffany Kinard (Oglethorpe).

The other athletes scheduled to he honored are: basketball player Jordan Capps (Samford), cheerleaders Allison and Katelyn Akers (Ohio State), golfer Zach Pritchard (BYU), lacrosse players Miller Holstein (Berry), Travis Ray (Berry) and Kayla Jones (Piedmont), swimmer Guido Saccaggi (Catholic University of America) and tennis players Alex Makarenko (Birmingham Southern) and Abby Owens (LSU).
