LAWRENCEVILLE -- A Lawrenceville man pleaded guilty Tuesday to the 2011 stabbing deaths of his toddler sons.
Elvis Noe Garcia-Nelasco entered the guilty pleas on two counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault in front of Gwinnett County Judge Melodie Snell Conner Tuesday. He received life sentences for both murder charges and an additional 20 years, to be served concurrently, on the aggravated assault charge, District Attorney Danny Porter said.
On Feb. 9, 2011, Garcia-Nelasco stabbed 1-year-old twin sons Edward and Joshua and 3-year-old son Bradley in the basement of a home on Bridle Path Drive in Lawrenceville. The latter two died from their injuries.
Garcia-Nelasco, also stabbed at the scene, was originally believed to be a victim and blamed his estranged wife's new boyfriend in the bloody crime. Medical experts later determined, though, that the knife wounds on Garcia-Nelasco's chest were likely self-inflicted.
Murder allegations against the original suspect were dropped after video surveillance also revealed he was elsewhere at the time of the crime.
