LAWRENCEVILLE -- Gwinnett Relay For Life has raised $1.5 million for the fight against cancer, officials said this week.

The annual American Cancer Society's all-night event on Friday and Saturday helped bring the total to within $400,000 of last year's $1.87 million donation to the ACS.

Online donations are still available through August. The 2014 Relay For Life event is scheduled for May 9th and 10th.

"Thank you again for all your hard work and dedication this year," said Kelly Flowers, community manager, in an email to supporters.
