LAWRENCEVILLE -- Gwinnett County 4-H teams swept state events last weekend.
On May 3-4, two teams from Gwinnett 4-H's Horse Club competed in the State Horse Judging and the State Hippology (horse studies) contests.
Senior team members Nathaniel Hinton, Caroline Hinton, Mary Cate Marchert and Mallory Huff, placed first in both categories, as did junior team members Sarah Kearns, Sabrina Sailer and Makenna White.
According to Janice Rogers, both teams winning both categories is "very rare in 4-H."
All the local winners will become Master 4-H'ers and will compete in the national competitions for both events.
According to its website, Georgia 4-H, a partner in public education, "is youth and adults learning, growing and working together to experience and accomplish the extraordinary."
