SUWANEE -- The fountain in Town Center Park won't be the only thing making a splash on Saturday.
The North Gwinnett Arts Association will put on its Arts in the Park festival with a theme of "Art Splash" at 11 a.m. About 60 artists are scheduled to exhibit, sell and demonstrate their art, and the 2013-15 SculpTour exhibit will be officially unveiled. Attendees will also have the chance to participate in a chalk art competition and community art program. A professional chalk artist will also create a drawing expected to last at least nine months. The city of Suwanee is a co-sponsor of the event along with the NGAA.
"We started this festival as a way to share the arts with the community," NGAA President Vickie Johnson said. "Art enriches our lives, and this festival is all about sharing the fun, energy, and creativity that the arts can offer."
Oil painter David Phillips said festivals like this are a way to satisfy the artist's passion for creating art, and he will exhibit his nature and landscape pieces, along with working on a painting on site.
Phillips said artists get feedback from attendees, and the public can purchase art at several price points.
