LAWRENCEVILLE -- In February, Dacula resident William Thomas Oakes had his first novel, "Karma" published through Outskirts Press.
To get his name out there, he enlisted help of the folks over at the Aurora Theatre -- and on Tuesday, the Lawrenceville venue is hosting a book launch party. People can stop by to meet and greet the author as well as have a chance to purchase a paperback.
The story follows Sam Golden, a wealthy Atlanta playboy who always has women flocking after his worldly lifestyle. He drives fancy cars, travels in private jets and eats at all of the exclusive restaurants.
But one woman from his past refuses to leave him alone: Lana Gannon. She's even willing to kill him if she can't have him for herself.
Since Oakes is from the area, several scenes revolve around places located in metro Atlanta, including Gwinnett. The book visits Briscoe Field in Lawrenceville, What the Pho restaurant in Duluth and Stone Mountain Park.
A portion of the sales at Tuesday's event will be donated back to the Aurora Theatre, which is a nonprofit venue.
If you can't make the event, but would like to purchase the book, visit www.outskirtspress.com/karma13, Barnes & Noble or Amazon.com. Each copy is $20.
